Rope Splicing
What is the best way to configure the terminal end of your rope?

Knots: Knots can be bulky, requires skillful knot tying, and reduces the strength of the rope. Once pulled tight they can be almost impossible to untie. They are inexpensive, can be made as needed and can be connected to hardware.

Hand-Splicing: Hand-splicing makes for a much less bulky terminal end of your rope, and maintains the strength of the rope. If abrasion is anticipated a thimble can be built in to the splice.

Sewn Splice: Sewn-splices are more economical than hand-splicing, and can be used on rope that is impossible to hand-splice such as solid braid rope or 12-strang Kevlar. Sewn splicing has all the advantages of hand-splicing, but a much broader application with less cost.

Other Services: We can attach any kind of hardware for your needs, and also make whip-finishes on rope ends.

Which to choose? Contact our sales representatives and explain the intended use of your rope and we'll recommend the best solution.

Below are pictures or our heavy-duty sewing maching capable of sewing splices on rope up to 5/8-inch in diameter. The last picture shows a test of a sewn-splice on 1/2-inch Kevlar rope bearing a load of 1,700 lbs.
